Consider your benefits needs for the upcoming year:
- Are you prepared financially if you can’t work due to an illness or accident?
- Do you have other coverage available to you? If so, be sure to compare it to Thumbtack’s coverage.
- Do you need to consider coverage for your domestic partner or other family members?
Gather the information you will need to enroll, such as:
- Dependents’ birth dates and Social Security numbers
- Legal documentation verifying their eligibility, such as a marriage license or birth certificate

Who can I enroll in benefits?
- Full-time employees who actively work at least 30 hours per week
- Your legal spouse or domestic partner
- Your natural born children, current stepchildren, or legally adopted children up to age 26
- Your children of any age if they depend on you for support due to a physical or mental disability (documentation may be required)
- Children of a same sex or opposite sex domestic partner relationship, up to age 26 (regardless of marital status)
When can I enroll in benefits?
You can only enroll in or change your core benefits within 30 days of your hire date, within 30 days of a qualifying life event, or during annual Open Enrollment.
Can I change my benefits?
Outside of your new hire period and benefits Open Enrollment, you may only make changes to your benefits if you have a “qualified life event.”
- Marriage
- Divorce or legal separation
- Birth, adoption or placement for adoption of an eligible child
- Death of a spouse or covered dependent
- Gain or loss of coverage for any dependent, due to employment status change
- Gain or loss of coverage for an employee, due to spouse / domestic partner’s change in employment status
- A change in your dependent’s eligibility for benefits
- Eligibility for Medicare or Medicaid during the year
- Becoming eligible for domestic partner status in accordance with Thumbtack’s Domestic Partner policy
You have 30 calendar days from the qualified life event to make changes to your benefit elections.

How do I pay for my benefits?
Benefit deductions are taken out of each paycheck based on your elections. Thumbtack pays a portion of your monthly medical premiums to limit your monthly cost and provide you with affordable coverage options.
